Luminarc Vinery 11.75-Ounce Tulip Wine Glasses, Set of 4

The four wine glasses in this set make a great gift for those who like to drink wine on a daily basis. Designed in the classic tulip shape that suits any white wine, the 12-ounce glasses are made of Luminarc's amazingly tough, break-resistant glass. When a dinner party moves outdoors to the patio or when children are running around, the worry about fragile stemware breaking is virtually eliminated. And, when the party's over, the glasses slip right into the dishwasher and won't cloud or pit even after years of use.

The Vinery collection also includes a larger tulip-shaped wine glass, two sizes of balloon-shaped glasses for red wine, and a very modern decanter. Made in France for ARC International, Vinery is just one component of Luminarc, a brand known for its brightly colored and durable dinnerware, designed to be fun as well as practical for everyday living. --Ann Bieri

Customer Review: Love these glasses and Thank You Amazon!
I ordered 4 sets of these glasses. I was looking for a sturdy everyday wine glass and these are definitly beautiful and sturdy. They are large enough to be used for wine or just as a water glass when setting the table for holiday entertaining. They are not too fragile for children to handle at holiday gatherings. Now I can set the table and use the same glass for everyone. I love these glasses and have gotten rid of all my old mismatched glasses. On a side note, when I ordered these glasses, they were shipped using Amazon Prime 2 day UPS shipping. When they arrived, the UPS driver recomended that I refuse them since he could tell they were broken just from carrying the box. He was right. They were all broken. I refused the glasses and called Amazon. I wasn't sure if I should reorder the glasses or not. Amazon assured me they would double check the packing and also upgrade the shipping to 1 day. Since I order from Amazon alot and have been extremely happy with the...

Spiegelau Vino Grande Cabernet/Merlot/Bordeaux Wine Glasses (Set of 6

Founded in 1521, Spiegelau is one of the oldest and most famous European manufacturers of fine crystal, located in the small town of Spiegelau in the heart of the Bavarian Forest. Being one of the most picturesque parts of Germany, this area has in recent times become as much a centre of tourism as well as a traditional center of glassmaking. Today, the Spiegelau brand has become synonymous with quality stemware, especially among the worlds leading sommeliers and wine connoisseurs. The machine-made Vino Grande Series is exceptionally beautiful and durable and is designed to enhance a wines flavor and bouquet. Each shape is specific to how the wine will aerate and how the bouquet will be delivered to your nose Dishwasher safe. Size: 8-3/4"H, 22 oz.
Customer Review: These are not the WSJ glasses
I inadvertently ordered these to replace the glasses recommended by the Wall Street Journal. These are not the glasses. The recommended glasses are the Spiegelau Vino Grande Burgundy Wine Glasses. These are slightly smaller, with a less broad bottom. Still, I'm sure they're wonderful...just not what was in the Journal.
Customer Review: The best red wine glass ever!
Spiegelau Vino Grande Bordeaux is the best glass to drink your red wines from. Its a nice size, feels good in the hand & on the lips, the glass is thin (but not so thin it will break if you bump it), it holds plenty, lets the wine breathe, ones not afraid to swirl. I do not put mine in the dish washer, the heat seems to dull them, so I wash by hand to keep them nice & clear. I have gone thru many wine glasses, the Spiegelau have proven to be our favorite, they are like the Riedel except they are less expensive & dont break as easily. The Spiegelau glasses add to the pleasures of wine drinking! They also make great gifts. I have to give credit to the authors (Dottie & John)of "Tastings" in the Wall Street Weekend Journal for turning me on to these several years ago. I thank them. Cheers.

Riedel Vinum Extreme Bordeaux/Cabernet Wine Glass, Set of 4

Made in Europe by the world's most renowned wine-glass maker Riedel Crystal, founded in 1756, the four large glasses in this set are ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and full-bodied red Bordeaux wines like Cabernet Franc. The glasses are from Riedel's Vinum Extreme series, which are distinguished by their bowls' dramatically flared diamond shape. The glasses provide an exceptionally wide evaporation surface, thereby intensifying wines' bouquet and silky texture. The glasses are machine-blown of 24 percent lead crystal and conform to Riedel's exacting standards: colorless, transparent, and thin-walled, with lips cut and polished so wine flows smoothly onto the tongue. These glasses are 9-3/4 inches high and hold 30-3/8 ounces.

Though glasses shaped and sized for different types of wine seem commonplace today, when Riedel introduced this idea in 1961 it was revolutionary. Since then Riedel has continued fine-tuning glasses to bring out the best characteristics in w...

Customer Review: Hubby loves 'em!
My husband was truly pleased and surprised with these glasses as a gift. He is enjoying them immensely.
Customer Review: It DOES make a difference
I am not a crazy "wine nut" but bought these glasses because when I do drink wine I figure I may as well have the best experience possible. Generally, at home, I drink red wines in the $15-$50 range. I just got these new glasses after not having true red wine glasses and poured myself a glass of the very mediocre Columbia Crest "Grand Estates" Columbia Valley Merlot 2000, which was left over from a party. I have never enjoyed this wine. However, in this glass it was a much different experience. It smelled and tasted much better. Suddenly, it wasn't that annoying wine that I didn't like before. Now, mind you, the wine didn't turn into something it wasn't, and it still wasn't spectacular by any stretch, but it WAS DEFINITELY BETTER...MUCH BETTER than it had been in traditional wine glasses. Since then, I would have to say that these glasses enhance fine wines to a significant extent. If you're going to spend a lot on wine, might as well not ...

Riedel Vinum Syrah/Rhone Wine Glasses, Set of 6

Set of six Vinum wine glasses are made of 24-percent lead crystal by Riedel, makers of fine glassware. Wine connoisseurs will particularly appreciate the care and design that goes into making sure each Vinum glass is the perfect shape for enhancing the bouquet and flavor of specific varietals. The distinct bowl shape directs the wine to just the right part of the tongue so each note can be appreciated and savored. It's simple enough to complement equally simple or even complex dinnerware and tableware patterns. This particular Syrah glass is recommended for drinking Syrah, Shiraz, Amarone, Rh??ne and other wines. The Vinum line is functional, high quality glass that belongs to the Riedel family of stemware. Introduced in 1986, the Vinum collection was first in a series of stemware in history to be based exclusively on the characteristics of grape varietals, meaning the content commands the shape.

Customer Review: Riedel Syrah
They really add to your wine enjoyment. And the second shippment actually came in one piece. Amazon was real good about the return but they were not package well for shipment.
Customer Review: Gorgeous, but disappointed with durability
We have been avid fans of this Riedel glass - we love the way it looks, the way it feels, and the way it enhances syrah and cabernet. However we are now down to two glasses after receiving eight as a gift in 2002. Six have broken unexpectedly in the meantime, mostly during the washing process. We take immaculate care of our glasses. We handwash them carefully after each use. And still, they break - usually in the middle of the stem. Two broke in my hands without being hit against anything. My issue is these glasses are an investment, and at about $20 per glass I believe it's reasonable to expect durability along with beauty and function. Riedel has disappointed us here. It is almost as if the glass has stress points that develop over time. Again, not what I would expect from a high end glass. It is time for us to shop for more glasses, and sadly Riedel no longer has our loyalty. Inconsistent durability should not come with such a high pri...

Riedel Wine Series Syrah/Shiraz Glasses, Set of 4

The glasses are machine-made in Europe by renowned glassmakers and feature a faceted stem with tiered decorations at the top and base. The thin rims are cut and polished so that wine flows well onto the tongue, and the bowl shapes emphasize bouquet. This set of four glasses is designed to highlight the intense nose, bold flavors, and sweet finish of Shiraz and Syrah wines. A versatile shape, the design is also suitable for serving Amarone, Blau Frankisch, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Grenache, Hermitage Rouge, Malbec, Mourvdre, and Pinotage. Customer Review: Okay, if you like a BIG glass, Vinum line is better
Perhaps my memory doesn't serve me well, because I was the designated driver the last time we toured wine country, but I don't recall them using glasses this BIG for reds. This glass was not suitable as a replacement for my crystal to serve with the china. I was not crazy about the size, weight, clarity and cloverleaf stem. Instead I bought a full set of the Riedel Vinum Zinfandel/Chianti & Riesling glasses at $16 a piece on sale with free shipping (vs these at $10 ea). It's worth the higher quality (24% lead crystal) and more versatile size and shape.
Customer Review: The most perfectly shaped wine glass
I bought four of these at the local supermarket for $13 each, after searching for the perfect wine glass for weeks. These are exactly the right shape for a delicious red wine - big bulb, but not like a goldfish bowl; nicely tapered, and interesting Deco-ish shape for the stem. Dinner guests always comment on their beauty and how they make the wine seem expensive even if it's not. You just want to pour a glass, swirl it around, stick your nose deep in there, then take your first sip. You just feel elegant drinking with it. Anyway, Amazon's price of $10 per glass is a steal (with free shipping), so I got four more.

Riedel Vinum Burgundy/Pinot Noir Wine Glasses, Set of 4

What can we learn from a Riedel (rhymes with "needle") glass? That size matters, as does shape? That form following function has meaning for wine-lovers as well as designers? Or perhaps the deeper lesson that the contents of an outwardly "plain" glass may provide a more sensual, complex, and rewarding experience than those of a superficially beautiful one? The Austrian Riedel family has been involved with glass-making since 1756, but it was two centuries later that Claus Riedel conceptualized a glass made specifically to enhance the flavors and aromas of a designated wine. Through an involved process each style of glass is crafted to accentuate the strengths, while minimizing the weaknesses, of a particular spirit. This is done through changes in the size and shape of the bowl, the diameter of the opening and the cut and polished lip which directs the wine towards a specific area of the tongue. Small wonder Riedel stems are preferred by sommeliers and oenophiles world wide for their ab...
Customer Review: The Riedel Anti-Pinot Noir glass
Sorry, but I beg to differ with the majority view. In my view, this glass is terrible. I have a very substantial cellar, devoted in large part to red and white Burgundies (and a bit of Oregon pinot noir), which you might gather from my moniker. I also have many dozens of wine and spirits glasses, most all from Riedel. The Riedel red Burgundy Sommelier glass is the reference standard -- beautiful to look at, and an incredible complement to pinot noir. Wine sings in that glass, but it is huge (the bowl will hold a full bottle of wine, although it should be filled with no more than a few ounces at a time), expensive and easily broken. I bought a set of Riedel Vinum pinot glasses years ago hoping that would provide an alternative for everyday drinking and to tote to restaurants, where I usually bring my own wine and also my own glassware, as most restaurant glassware is worthless (as are most restaurant wine lists). I tried the Vinum pinot glass a few times...
Customer Review: Wonderful Glasses
Riedel makes the finest wine glasses in the world. I can't quite step up to pay for the Sommelier series, but the Vinum doesn't disappoint. The glasses have a nice weight, and they look fantastic!

The Diva Tritan by Schott Zwiesel is a breakthrough in crystal glass! The glasses stand up to daily use and thousands of cycles in your dishwasher, without any blemishes or loss of brilliance.
Customer Review: Best glasses, ordering my 2nd set!
I am coming back for another set of these, because they are my favorite glasses ever. Suitable for red or white, thus a great all-purpose glass, you can put them in the dishwasher, use them out on the deck, take them in a picnic basket, etc. and you can always count on their strength. They are very thin and chime beautifully too. I have had the stem break off from one, but I got years of use out of my first set. I am glad these are available on Amazon, so I can use my Amazon Visa points and score them for free -- god knows I don't need more wine glasses, but I really like having these for my little everyday luxury.
Customer Review: Can't wait to drop one!!!
Have the Riedel glass ware and already have a 'nick' in rim of one costing about $12 each....knew that day would happen and just chalked it up to 'doing business'. ENTER TRITAN: PROS: - it truly is no different than Riedel glass ware - HOLDS UP TO DISHWASHER - HOLDS UP TO CASUAL SMACKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - ALL the above = the only reason to NEVER buy a Riedel or other stemware of Lead Glass again. CONS: - CANNOT hold up to a hammer: no, haven't tried this yet...really want to...but, well, perhaps after that special Sonoma Carnneros red....I will ceremoniously, accidentally, have one 'slip' from my fingers on the balcony over that blasted patio brick near the fushia......'ok, i dream'...NAW< I'm going to do it, will report back on that later.

Metrokane Rabbit Bordeaux/Cabernet/Merlot Wine Glasses, Set of 2

Medium- to full-bodied red wines need a wide surface area to fully release their bouquet, hence this monumental wine-specific glass from Metrokane. Ideally designed for Bordeaux, Cabernet, and Merlot, the 33-ounce glass provides the appropriate bowl girth and curvature that wine connoisseurs expect. Furthermore, the flared tasting lip directs the wine to the front palate, enhancing the total sensory experience. The set consists of 4 glasses.

Metrokane, maker of the renowned Rabbit corkscrew, etches the base of each glass with a tiny Rabbit icon as a symbol of quality. Hand-blown of remarkably clear lead-free crystal, the glasses are dishwasher-safe, yet the stunning size, 10-3/4 by 4 inches, may preclude them from fitting in most dishwashers. Metrokane also produces crystal specifically designed for medium- to full-bodied reds, sparkling wines, and dry white wines. --Ann Bieri

Customer Review: Great giant glasses
While other reviewers complained and did not like the size of these wine glasses, I think this product is well worth the money. The size of these glasses is very large, but that is the point. Large glasses are perfect for special wines so you can smell the wine and let it breathe in a large bowl. These glasses are approximately the same size as their reidel equivalent, and I'm very happy with the quality and shine of the crystal for half the price of reidel's. Thus, I don't mind if these break, but the crystal seems to be strong and the manufacturer advertises that these glasses can be put in the dishwashing machine although I tend to rinse with hot water only. Metrokane glasses are well worth the money if you're looking for large bowls and an oversized big glass for your good juice.
Customer Review: Great Product Beware Short Shipping
These wine glasses are fantastic. They are large and in charge! However, they are shipped in sets of two. I ordered a total of eight, and received two shipments of two. I called Amazon and they reshipped - another set of two. As I was two short, I called again; they refused to reorder, saying I would have ten if they did so. I pointed out I was likely to get two again, not four, and was very firm, and they reshipped. I got two again to complete the eight. They are worth the trouble, but be prepared.

Customer Review: Do not buy Schott's Glass!!!!!
I am a serious wine collector and have owned several sets of crystal stemware over the last 25 years. I was drawn to the Schott Z. products because they are very attractive and I was interested in the break resistent advantage. I bought this set of 6 Pinot glasses and now 16 months later, there are just two left. These, however, faired better than the Bordeaux glasses; all 6 of them shattered. Not a single one ever hit the floor, nor did even one get toppled over. They (10 of my 12) met far gentler, but very premature, ends My first two broke in my dishwasher - nothing ever broke in that ASKO dishwasher before. Well, at least they were together when they died - although that's not much consolation for the $30 I had invested in that pair. So, I thought that I had no option but to wash them by hand - just as I have always done with crystal stem ware. That claimed the next 8 glasses. By now I suspect that you might formulate a mental image of me as...

Customer Review: Big, Bold & Beautiful
My husband absolutely LOVES these wine glasses. (These will be a Father's Day gift for him, and he will be elated!) We used them 2 to 3 times a week for the last couple of years. Though I sometimes prefer a smaller glass, he loves that these are very big - the biggest wine glasses I've ever seen. They are also beautiful, and they make the perfect chime for toasting. I am ordering our SECOND order of these wine glasses. My husband and I bought four of them a couple of years ago, and the last one finally broke in the dishwasher recently. I've always thought of ALL wine glasses as somewhat fragile and was surprised to read the reviews of those that thought these were overly fragile and also of those that seemed to think they were abnormally durable. I would say they are in between. We have lost 4 of them in 2 years, but my husband isn't exactly what you would call coordinated. (When we were dating, my sister teased me that I would have to register only for Tupperware...
Customer Review: Fantastic Glass
I have been using these glasses for years and while they are not unbreakable, they are so much stronger than anything else of this quality. And this quality is quite high. I use these for parties and gatherings and have only lost 1 or 2 after thousands of uses, I can not say that about the competition's glasswear, which breaks if you sneeze on it. Highly recommended.

Customer Review: Perfect for storing my wine
I have had this cooler for a couple of months now, and it has worked great. The temperature stays consistent. It's relatively quiet (minor compressor noise when it turns on). And depending on the shapes of the bottle, you can fit more than 30 bottles in - I think I have 38 in there. It is a bit more attractive in real life than in the photo here on the site.
Customer Review: A must for any wine enthusiast!
I've had this bad boy for a year now and I love it. It's been through two moves in that year, and it's still running strong. The cons: First, yes - there's a slight hum and gurgling every now and then. If you have a regular fridge right now, you'll be fine with the noise output of this unit. Second, and this is hardly a con, the AIR temperature (and therefore the temp on the display) does fluctuate sometimes up to 7 degrees. That's simply a reality of any device that changes temperature of the air. Since we're using this for wine (a fluid) it doesn't really matter as long as the average temperature is stable. It takes more time and energy to change the temperature of a fluid than it does the air surrounding it, so the wine will remain a relatively constant temperature. The pros: 30 bottles!!! That is the maximum of any unit I was looking at and I am sure glad I went with it. Most wine enthusiasts will say that they quickly grow their collection to the limit of their space...

Riedel Ouverture White Wine Glasses, Set of 4

Perfect for everyday use, the four white-wine glasses in this set are part of the moderately priced Ouverture series offered by world-renowned Austrian wineglass maker Riedel Crystal (founded in 1756). Being lead-free, they're not crystal like Riedel's premium glasses but are machine blown of potash glass and are dishwasher-safe. Their thin rims are cut and polished to Riedel's exacting standards, so wine flows easily onto the tongue. Each glass holds 9-7/8 ounces and stands 7-1/8 inches high. Though glasses shaped and sized for different types of wine seem commonplace today, when Riedel introduced this idea in 1961, it was revolutionary. Since then Riedel has continued fine-tuning glasses to bring out the best characteristics in wines and spirits. Varying bowls' shapes and sizes affects the position of the head when sipping and where wine first contacts the tongue's various taste zones. --Fred Brack

Customer Review: My favorite wine tasting glasses
I love the Riedel Ouverture series glasses and have the red wine, white wine and magnum sets. Only $8 per stem and the same shape as the much more expensive Vinum series. Supposedly, the no lead allows them to be put in the dishwasher, but I always hand wash them. Good light but strong wine glass with a nice length stem; many wine glasses have overly long stems. Don't know why more wine stores don't carry the Ouverture glasses. For me, they are the only ones to own.
Customer Review: For the smaller hand and more compact nose. . .
The Ouverture White glass holds 20% less wine than the red. It' a reminder to pour smaller portions of white so the wine doesn't warm up too quickly in the glass. I personally find the smaller size to be a bit too fussy, but one of my favorite tasting companions prefers this glass no matter what we're drinking. A great deal of your experience of wine comes from the aromas that develop in the air above the surface of the wine. A glass that forces the wine to have a large surface area for its volume and then narrows to concentrate the vapors will increase the flavor experience. Glasses with a thin lip seem to interfere less with the taste of wine than thicker (and cheaper) glasses. The shape of the glass makes a difference, too. Since we can only smell molecules that are in the air, the best wine-tasting glass is going to promote evaporation by exposing the largest possible surface area to the air. These glasses are wide at the waist and narrow at the top to get more from their wine. Do...
